Eskimo Candy wasn't always the
leader in the seafood industry...it took many years of hard work,
determination, perseverance, and ultimately 'going the extra mile'
servicing customers! The inspiration to sell seafood on Maui was
sparked after Jeff came back to Maui from fishing up in Alaska in
1987. Jeff began selling smoked salmon on Maui from the back of
his Jeep Scrambler, dropping off the fish to restaurants. It was
a one-man show at this time, with Jeff taking all the orders, making
all the deliveries, and servicing all his customers. He made his
mark on the industry through his consistency, aggressive pricing, and
one-on-one customer service. After the success of his smoked
salmon sales, Jeff ventured into selling other seafood and meats. Since the beginning,
Eskimo Candy's primary business has always been providing wholesale
fish, seafood, meat and chicken to restaurants, hotels and grocery
stores. But with the desire to pass onto friends, family and the
general public good quality home made food at affordable prices, Jeff
decided to take a plunge into the retail realm, opening the Eskimo
Candy Seafood Market and Café in 2003. |
